Your Social Security statement may show earnings for multiple Work Years in the same row. Do not enter these amounts into your Covered Earnings History. You must enter earnings for each year separately or results may not be accurate.


See the example image below where earnings for work years 1981 to 1990, 1991 to 2000, and 2001 to 2005 are all combined, whereas earnings for 2006 and 2007 are shown in separate rows.


In cases such as this, you can take one of two approaches:

  1. Import your earnings as XML. It's accurate and easy to do. (Search for "import xml" for further help)
  2. Find your full earnings history with all years separated out by logging in to your account at SSA.gov and look for the "Review your full earnings record now" link.
